Less than a day after Oprah's powerful speech at the Golden Globes had everyone calling on sex ethiopian videoher to run for president in 2020, at least one celeb known to get political, Jimmy Kimmel, is on board.
SEE ALSO: Oprah's must-see speech at the Globes will make you cry — and inspire you to take actionSpeaking at the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour, Kimmel said he had no plans to run for office himself and then addressed his pal amazing Oprah's speech.
Noting the friendly audience Oprah got to play to, Kimmel indicated he'd be all about supporting an Oprah 2020 run -- with one caveat.
Said Kimmel, via Entertainment Weekly:
“I thought it was interesting. Obviously, you’re preaching to the choir in that situation. That said, given the choice between Oprah and our current president, I’m on the bus with Oprah traveling the country encouraging people to sign up and vote. We’d have to call her President Winfrey, you realize that? I don’t know if we’re prepared for that as a country.”
Though I am hardly a constitutional scholar, if there's anyone with the power to change how we address presidents, it's Oprah.
As for Kimmel, he's got a big awards show gig himself coming up as he prepares to host the Academy Awards for the second straight year. The big show airs on ABC on Sunday, March 4, 2018.
