Amazon launched a new version of its cheapest Kindle earlier this year, female full frontal but people with a little more money to spend just got some good news.
The new Kindle Oasis became available for pre-order on Wednesday, starting at a whopping $250. However, for nighttime readers, that price point could theoretically be justified. The big new feature this time around is a warmth slider that will let you add an orange tint to the screen for less eye strain while reading under cover of darkness.
Amazon released a handy image showing exactly how that works and what it looks like.
The basic, $90 Kindle and the $130 Paperwhite don't have this feature or the other features endemic to the Oasis. It's got a 7-inch display with a high resolution to make virtual books look sharp as can be.

Still, $250 (which goes up to $280 if you want more storage space) is a lot for an e-reader. You could get the default iPad for less than $100 more and it would be able to do a lot more. Obviously, if you buy a tablet or another e-reader used, the price goes down significantly.
Regardless, the new Kindle Oasis is there if you want it. If eye strain is a big barrier between you and e-readers, it could be worth a shot. Deliveries start on July 24.
