Legendary Dark Soulsstreamer The Japan ArchivesHappy Hob has done the impossible: He beat all three Dark Soulsgames in one sitting without taking a single hit.
SEE ALSO: How democracy beat 'Dark Souls'Yes, that's correct. After an entire year of practice and attempts, The Happy Hob beat Dark Souls 1,2,and 3on Thursday without getting hit by any enemies. He completed the run in reverse order, starting with the third game and then playing the second and finally the first, finishing the final boss with a combined time of 9 hours, 28 minutes, and 45 seconds.
After landing the final blow on Dark Souls' Gwyn, a.k.a. the Lord of Cinder, Hob popped off with an emotional victory cry.
"Trilogy no hit run!" he yelled. "We did it!"
Twelve months of work finally paid off as congratulations and donations started to pour in.
"Gaming history!" he cheered. "Dark Souls history!"
Hob seemed beside himself and almost on the verge of tears for a few seconds before gathering himself and whispering, "It's easy."
The feat, of course, was not even remotely easy. The infamous series is notorious for its brutally challenging enemies and its habit of making players die over and over and over again. In fact, the first Dark Soulsreceived a re-release called the Prepare to Die Edition.
To make things even more difficult for Hob, he doesn't use any major glitches and doesn't really use magic. Instead, he primarily uses melee weapons to make it more entertaining and relies on dodge rolls and counters to avoid enemy attacks.
You may notice that Hob has taken some damage, but that only comes from falling from tall heights, as Reddit user Wise__Words explains in a post. Also, at one part in Dark Souls, Hob has to intentionally die to progress, and there's no workaround for that so it's technically a one-death run but the community agrees that it's necessary.
Hob first caught the world's attention in 2016 when he became the first person ever to complete a no-hit run of Dark Souls. Just beating one of the Soulsgames like that was shocking and the achievement even drew skepticism from the game's director.
Completing a no-hit run for all three games is astounding, and we applaud the tenacity and patience it took to do it.
