The Watch Lost Bullet OnlineApple Watch Series 2 is coming — and you can take it for a swim.
As expected, Apple revealed the new device at a media event in San Francisco Wednesday. It promises to be water resistant up to 50 meters. An innovative new speaker design will actually spit water out of the device after your laps end, Apple's chief operating officer Jeff Williams said.
You'll be able to preorder the device starting September 9, and it'll be released on September 16. It starts at $369.
There are a number of exciting updates beyond water resistance. Let's take a look.

The Apple Watch Series 2 will include built-in GPS functionality. You'll be able to go on a run without your iPhone and still measure your overall distance and pace. That may not be good enough for everyone — the Apple Watch Series 2 still doesn't have a standalone cellular connection — but it's a definite improvement if you'd like to exercise without a phone bopping around in your pocket or (ugh) strapped to your arm.
Don't forget that you can keep some music storedon your Apple Watch. The addition of GPS effectively means that you can have your whole workout experience -- Bieber and all -- without bringing your iPhone along. That's pretty neat.
The Series 2 will include "the brightest display Apple has ever shipped," Williams said. It has a 1,000-nit display, which is twice as bright as the original Apple Watch.
Apple Watch Series 2 will be built with a new dual core processor, which will make it up to 50 percent faster than the original Apple Watch. That should cut down on lengthy app startup times.
The new Apple Watch will come in aluminum, stainless steel and a new material — ceramic. You'll be able to get it in white.
There's also a new "Nike Plus" edition with its own sporty band:
If you don't want to spend cash on the Series 2, the original version of the Apple Watch is getting an upgrade, too. They're adding the dual processor, so it'll be faster, and its price point is dropping to $269.
