Apple's online store is Series Archivescurrently down, but we don't expect any surprises when it comes back at exactly 11:01 a.m. ET (8:01 a.m PT). Instead, the company's new PRODUCT(RED) iPhone, as well as the new $329 iPad tablet, will become available for order.
SEE ALSO: Future iPhones and iPads could have stretchy screensOn Tuesday, Apple announced that the PRODUCT(RED) iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will become available for order today in more than 40 countries, including the U.S. The shipping time is end of March.
Besides being red with an aluminum back finish, the new iPhone 7 is otherwise exactly the same as the regular model. However, by buying it you support a good cause: Apple donates a portion of the proceeds from all PRODUCT(RED) devices to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS.
The new, $329 iPad (which replaces the iPad Air product line), also becomes available for order today in more than 20 countries including the U.S. Shipping will begin next week.
The new iPad is mostly an upgrade compared to the iPad Air 2, which it replaced, but it's also a downgrade in some respects. It has a more powerful processor (A9) and a brighter screen than the Air 2. But is a little bit thicker and heavier, and its screen is not laminated to the cover glass and does not have an anti-reflective coating.
