Philadelphia Eagles fans984 Archivesflooding a Venmo account allegedly belonging to Chicago Bears kicker Cody Parkey -- or someone with the same name -- after Parkey's missed 43-yard field goal attempt handed the Eagles a win during the NFL playoff game on Sunday night.
It was particularly excruciating for Parkey, who has been haunted by missed attempts all season. If there's any solace here, it's that it appears as if the kick was deflected by an Eagles player. But a miss is still a miss and this one was painful.

But Eagles fans were plenty happy to see the defending Super Bowl champs survive in an upset victory. So much that they took to Venmo to send Parkey some thank you cash. Or, at least, someone with Parkey's name. It's entirely possible there's a random stranger named Cody Parkey who's waking up to hundreds of dollars thanks to drunk, delirious Eagles fans.

Of course, none of the screenshots show the username associated with the account, so it's impossible to tell if this was the real Parkey, a case of mistaken identity, or just a widespread prank that we're all falling for.
The whole thing blew up overnight, too, so now there are dozens of Parkey impersonators on the service, all trying to cash in on the moment and make a few extra dollars.
We've reached out to Venmo about the wave of altruistic donations to the Cody Parkeys of the world. In the meantime, here's hoping a few bucks made their way to the real Parkey so maybe he can use the money to buy some ice cream or White Castle or anything so he can eat his feelings and prepare to face the rest of the long, cold, dark Chicago winter after a crushing loss.
