At a time when our nation's values977 Archivesseemingly in peril, it's important to remember that silence is compliance.
Restaurant Kiwiana in Brooklyn, New York, refuses to be silent. In the face of President Donald Trump's immigration ban, the New Zealand restaurant is making sure all of their customers know that the delicious food they're enjoying was made and served by immigrants.

"Immigrants make America great (they also cooked your food and served you today)," the message read.
Kiwiana chef Mark Simmons is responsible for the restaurant's note.
"I am an immigrant myself," the chef said on the phone. "I am from New Zealand. This is a New Zealand restaurant, and we support immigrants."
"[It's] a show of support for all those families that are being torn apart," Simmons continued, who said he came here "with pretty much nothing and have built myself up from there, so I know the trials and tribulations of being an immigrant."
The chef explained the bill serves as "a reminder to ourselves and to our customers that immigrants are relatively the backbone of the hospitality industry, and they often are the people who cook for you ... all around America."
When asked how long the bills would bear this message, he said:
"It's until further notice. Hopefully until things get better."
Bravo, Kiwiana. Our compliments to the chef.
