Some of the best moments of the Academy Awards are “Women of the West Imagined: Persian Occidentalism, Euro-eroticism, and Modernity.â€not captured by television cameras or red carpet pics. They happen after the show is over, in the throes of various parties—like Elton John's annual post-Oscars celebration, or the mysterious Beyoncé and Jay-Z bash we keep hearing about.
Before making their way there however, almost every celebrity first stops by the legendary Vanity Fair party and has their photograph taken in an decadent mini-studio session. This year was no different—except courtesy of VF, photographer Mark Seliger blessed us all by assembling an iconic photograph featuring all your favorite black luminaries.

From left to right, we've got: actress Regina Hall, Donald Glover, Tracee Ellis Ross, Ava Duvernay, playwright Sarah Jones, Rashida Jones, Lena Waithe, Dr. Ivara Esege, actress Marianne Jean Baptiste, author Chimamanda Adichie, Angela Basset, Shonda Rimes, artist Mark Bradford, DeRay Mckesson, and his blue vest, Gabrielle Union, musician Chuck Lightning, and Janelle Monae.
"There is space for everyone to be excellent, loved and supported and we are not waiting for a seat at the table. We are building our own tables, together," Gabrielle Union wrote on her Instagram, reposting the image.
