The Fast & Furiousfranchise is being turned into an animated series, Netflix announced on Monday, as a part of Netflix's deal with DreamWorks Animation. The new series focuses on the younger cousin of Dom (Vin Diesel) from the movie franchise and is aimed at a younger demographic.

"Teenager Tony Toretto follows in the footsteps of his cousin Dom when he and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on world domination," Netflix said in a release.
It sounds like instead of following the main characters from any of the eight feature films, the Fast & Furiousanimated series will be a spin-off, but that doesn't rule out any cameos from characters the world has grown to love over the years.
The animated series will be run by Tim Hedrick and Bret Haaland, and produced by Fast & Furiousfilm producers Vin Diesel, Neal Moritz, and Chris Morgan.
The deal between Netflix and DreamWorks Animation has been going on for five years and has produced 14 different series, including Trollhuntersand All Hail King Julien.
There are already two Fast & Furiouslive action movies expected to release in the future, which will serve as the ninth and 10th chapters of the series that's been going strong since 2001.
