Still haven't had enough of video calls?Kelly the Coed 1 (1999) If so, you'll love the fact that Google Meet is now available on Chromecast, letting you make and receive video calls on your TV set.
In a blog post Tuesday, Google said Meet on Chromecast will allow users to host or join meetings. It will require a Google account, the latest version of Chrome, and the latest firmware installed on your Chromecast.
Full requirements and a short walkthrough on how to use the feature can be found here. Note that one of the requirements is a computer running Chrome — you won't be able to join meetings using just your TV. Also, Google warns that performance on TVs may vary.
According to Google, this could be particularly useful for remote learning, which typically happens in the living room. But it could also provide a change of scenery for those fed up doing calls in their stuffy home office. "Change up the usual environment and enjoy your morning meetings on your TV screen in the living room, with a big cup of coffee in hand," the post said.
Google has been expanding Meet rapidly in the past half a year as more and more people use videoconferencing software to work from home during the Covid-19 pandemic. Previously a paid software, Meet has been made free for everyone in April.
Google Meet will be rolling out on Chromecast "over the next couple days."
