Since its launch in July987 Archives time and time again Threads took its time with launching key features like a following feed and a search function. But it looks like the platform will never get chronological search results.
Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, revealed this in a Threads post yesterday (Dec. 1). He replied to a post inquiring if the platform planned to have the option to sort search results chronologically. He wrote, "No, that would create substantial safety loopholes." Mosseri has yet to explain why it poses a threat to safety on Threads.
Chronological search results is one of the more helpful features on X / Twitter as it allows users to follow breaking news.
Earlier yesterday, Threads announced that it's expanding keyword search to more languages. Search launched in September and was previously limited to English and Spanish.
Users continue to ask for more essential features, like chronological search results, to make Threads a viable alternative to X / Twitter. Last month it began testing its version of hashtags after user demand. Hopefully chronological search is the only feature that Threads refuses to implement.
