The ginormous online retailer's made-up holiday got off to a rough start on Monday as some users were reporting issues with the website and app.
According to a map from DownDetector.com, the problems appear to be focused in North America. The website states that people started having issues with the site loading at 3:04 p.m. ET, just minutes after Prime Day launched, and at the time of writing, over 21,000 customers reported issues.

UPDATE: July 16, 2018, 2:32 p.m. PDT An Amazon spokesperson released the following statement to Mashable:
“Some customers are having difficulty shopping, and we’re working to resolve this issue quickly. Many are shopping successfully – in the first hour of Prime Day in the U.S., customers have ordered more items compared to the first hour last year. There are hundreds of thousands of deals to come and more than 34 hours to shop Prime Day.”
